On February 25, 1983 Steve Maglio was born.
Six months later on August 18, 1983, Kristen Ingebrigtsen was brought into this world.
They met on a cold February night almost 22 years later. The rest, as they say, is history.
Steve grew up in Roselle, IL and Kristen just a few towns over in Glen Ellyn. Their dreams and
aspirations eventually took them both to Northern Illinois University where they pursued degrees in
very different areas: Steve in geology and Kristen in communication. They met on Steve’s birthday
through an unlikely source…Kristen’s high school prom date, Adam. It turns out that Adam just happened
to be Steve’s new room mate. (How lucky for Steve and Kristen.) Almost 6 months after meeting, Steve and
Kristen started dating. Some would say when the first started dating the only things they had in common
was Adam and a love of Drum Corps. Kristen was a Cub fan and Steve was a “Chicago Fan.” But somehow they
managed to beat the odds and make their relationship work. Two years later Kristen had graduated with her
degree and Steve was finishing up his Masters. They decided to move to Las Vegas so Steve could pursue his
PhD in geology.
After moving to Vegas, Steve and Kristen’s relationship continued to grow as they learned even more things
about each other. For instance, Kristen doesn’t like to do the dishes and Steve doesn’t like to dust. So
they learned to compromise and share the household chores. They adopted a cat, who they named Bruce, and
Kristen helped Steve realize that cats aren’t all that bad. And thanks to Steve, Kristen now knows how to
take apart the plumbing underneath the kitchen sink when it starts to back up.
One of Steve and Kristen’s favorite restaurants in Las Vegas is Morton’s Steakhouse. On July 27, 2008 Steve
took Kristen there to celebrate their 3 year anniversary. Over a dessert of molten chocolate cake, Steve proposed.
(Kristen said yes!)
Now, on October 9, 2009, Steve and Kristen will be getting married. They are both happy and excited, and can’t
wait to see everyone there! |
